Alan Rose is trained as an economist, with business-related degrees from Edinburgh University and Columbia University. His first career was in the energy sector with Royal Dutch Shell, followed by a second career in strategy consulting with Booz Allen & Hamilton in the USA and Europe.
In recent years he has served as Chairman of York Teaching Hospital, which worked closely with the Hull York Medical School. York Hospital was named 'Board of the Year' from the entire NHS in 2012. He has also served as Chairman of Colchester Hospital and is currently Deputy Chairman of West Suffolk Foundation Trust. He is the Board's Prevent Champion.
