Dr Enamul Ahsan is an experienced academic leader with over a decade in healthcare higher education. He has played a central role in establishing a new UK medical school at ARU, leading on development, student support, curriculum design, quality assurance, and stakeholder engagement.
As Deputy Head of the School of Medicine at ARU Chelmsford, Enamul manages multidisciplinary teams, contributes to national education boards such as QAA and UCAT, and represents the school in key regulatory engagements with the General Medical Council and Health Education England. He brings a strong track record of innovation, academic leadership, and successful external partnership development.
Enamul's academic journey spans senior leadership roles in both undergraduate and postgraduate healthcare education, with a commitment to widening participation, student support and interprofessional learning. With expertise across medicine, allied health, healthcare science, and public health programmes, he is passionate about enhancing student outcomes and academic quality.
Enamul’s governance experience, analytical skills, and collaborative approach underpins his drive to improve educational standards and support learners from recruitment to graduation and beyond.
Enamul gained a BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry from the University of Dundee and a PhD from the University of St Andrews. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and holds both an MBA and PGCert in Higher Education from ARU. He is also an academic staff governor.
