The LLB (Hons) Law with Business course provides you with the theoretical foundations, professional awareness and transferable skills necessary for a wide range of legal, law-related and business careers.
You'll have the analytical, ethical and reflective capacities required for success in the evolving legal services sector and in diverse organisational settings, and be prepared for postgraduate study, including courses offering preparation for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE), Bar Training Course (BTC) or CILEx Professional Qualification (CPQ).
The course aims to cultivate your advanced legal and business reasoning, research and communication skills. It prepares you for further study, professional training and a wide range of legal, law-related and business careers. Assessment is authentic and inclusive, mirroring contemporary practice in the legal and business sectors and informed by sector-recognised expectations of legal and business education. You’ll start by learning the fundamentals of the law and legal systems of the United Kingdom.
You’ll also develop skills in fact handling, case reading, research, and more, which you’ll draw on throughout your degree and subsequent career.
In years 2 and 3, as well as continuing to develop your essential legal knowledge and skills, you’ll choose from a range of optional modules depending on your individual interests and aspirations.
Finally, you’ll complete a major project on a relevant topic of your choice, demonstrating your research, evaluation, and communication skills.
Moot courts give you the chance to test your knowledge and skills.

To prepare you for university study, you can take a foundation year at the start of this course. Foundation year modules vary by campus, so choose the option that’s best for you.
A foundation year prepares you for the rest of your course, and focuses on general skills such as researching and referencing, numeracy and ICT, and communication. We'll also start to look at some more subject-specific topics.
We'll assess you in a number of ways including written research projects, case analyses, advice letters, essays and reflective portfolios, business reports, Live Brief outputs, strategy presentations and AI-informed business projects.
Problem-based and story-based assessments mirror professional legal practice. Oral and creative outputs such as moots or podcasts assess your communication of law.
In-class problem solving, peer discussion, online quizzes and guided workshop activities provide continuous feedback to guide improvement.

We don't accept AS level qualifications on their own for entry to our undergraduate degree courses. However for some degree courses a small number of tariff points from AS levels are accepted as long as they're combined with tariff points from A levels or other equivalent level 3 qualifications in other subjects.

5 GCSEs at grade D, or grade 3, or above and evidence of two years post-GCSE study at Level 3.
If you have achieved at least grade E in one A level, or equivalent, you are exempt from the two years post-GCSE study requirement, but you still must meet the GCSE requirements.
If English is not your first language you will be expected to demonstrate a certificated level of proficiency of at least IELTS 5.5 (Academic level) or equivalent English Language qualification, as recognised by Anglia Ruskin University.
