Marketing graduate Ashwinder Bhatt

Ashwinder Bhatt

Passionate about the creative industries, Ash graduated from ARU in 2018 with a first in Marketing. Since then, he has started his own business specialising in digital marketing. Now with a host of clients, Ash and his business partners provide bespoke solutions for website and social media management.

I studied A levels in English Literature, History and Fine Art at Open Academy Sixth Form in Norwich, where I achieved grades of DDD.

I feel my decision to go to university was entirely the right decision, and I don’t believe I would be where I am now without it. Not only did my time as a student help improve my confidence, it’s also helped broaden my knowledge and helped me gain valuable real-life experience.

I’ve always been passionate about marketing, but my tutors helped inspire me further. I found myself researching topics that interested me outside of lectures, and emailing them with additional questions. I particularly enjoyed learning about digital marketing, and from this I started researching more about websites and HTML. This interest led to the creation of my start-up company, which wouldn’t have been possible without going to university.

I felt there was a lot of support at ARU, particularly for employment. The University has an excellent employability and careers team, and there’s specific modules about future careers which I really enjoyed and felt I got a lot out of out. I gained valuable insights and experience working with real companies, rather than simply reciting academic texts.

I also felt there were many opportunities to meet a variety of people, particularly from other subjects. For example, I befriended students studying Computer Science which led to conversations about creating apps, and I felt there was huge potential to go on and achieve big things.

In short, I don’t think I would be at the stage in my career without attending university. It’s broadened my horizons, and equipped me with the skills to succeed for future success.
