Awards and recognition

We're proud to have received a Gold award for the quality of our education in the Teaching Excellence Framework, a UK-wide review of university teaching standards.

We were also named Times Higher Education University of the Year 2023.

Recent successes

Some of our other recent successes include:

• ranked 1st in our region and 6th in England for UK undergraduates progressing into senior roles, in the Graduate Outcomes Survey 2026
• receiving the University of the Year title at the prestigious UK Social Mobility Awards
• achieving some outstanding results from the International Student Barometer 2024, with 92% of respondents satisfied with their overall experience at ARU
• becoming the first institution in the UK to receive the prestigious Entrepreneurial University Award
• we received The Queen’s Anniversary Prize for our world-leading music therapy work
• 16 subject areas were judged to contain 'world leading' research in the Research Excellence Framework 2021
• making a tangible difference to community health and wellbeing, in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals
• winning a Green Gown Award – the Next Generation Learning and Skills prize – for our Ruskin Modules.
