Music Therapy Entry Bursary

If you’re registered on our MA Music Therapy degree, this bursary can help pay for fees, books, living expenses and other costs during your training.

The Music Therapy Entry Bursary is generously funded by the ARU Foundation Music Therapy Appeal and The Music Therapy Charity.

Value

  • Up to £1,000 (exact amount depends on the number of bursaries we award each round). 

Eligibility

If you're registered for our MA Music Therapy degree you are eligible to apply for the bursary.

If you have specific health or disability needs and/or are experiencing financial hardship, you will receive priority consideration for this bursary.

How to apply

Email a letter to the Course Director, Claire Molyneux, with the subject line Application for Entry Bursary 2026.

Your application letter should be no more than two A4 pages long, and must include the following details:

  • your name and address
  • a short summary of your aims and motivation for studying MA Music Therapy at ARU
  • your current plans for funding the course, including details of other support, awards held or applied for, and donations
  • how you intend to use the bursary
  • your future plans and aspirations after you graduate from the course
  • any specific health or disability needs, financial hardship or other matters that are relevant to your bursary application.

When to apply

Apply by 1 October in the first year of your Music Therapy degree.

Other bursaries

We offer a number of bursaries that you can apply for once you've started studying here. Two are for final-year MA Music Therapy students, and two for final-year MA Dramatherapy students.

These bursaries support some of the activities you'll undertake as part of your training.

We invite applications towards the end of Trimester 2, and you can apply at the start of Trimester 3 using an application form we'll share.




Bursaries, and the amount awarded, are at the Course Director’s discretion and in line with the eligibility criteria outlined above. The Course Director’s decision is final and they reserve the right to not allocate the award or only partially allocate the award in any given year.
