This specialist Masters course looks at robotic surgery now, and its future potential.
It includes a Simulation module which takes place at the ICENI Centre in Colchester, Essex, UK. Here, you can observe live surgery in dual console operating rooms, and have a minimum of 30 hours on the DaVinci robotic simulator. You’ll be assigned a clinical supervisor in GI, gynaecology or urology.
The rest of the course is completed by distance learning.
Please note: this course cannot be completed without attendance in Colchester.

Develop your knowledge of robotic surgery through university study and simulation training.
Our Masters degree is designed for qualified clinicians with an interest in robotic surgery. While it won't qualify you to practice robotic surgery, it does include simulation training and is a primer for future specialist training.

The course features a range of optional modules, so you can explore a specific area in more detail. You can choose from optional modules in gastrointestinal (upper or lower), urological or gynaecological surgery.
You’ll also complete a Postgraduate Research Project. This is an opportunity to address a particular question or gap in knowledge in your area of specialism.
Based around the Institute of Excellence in Robotic Surgery (TIERS), the course aims to further develop expertise in robotic surgery and to drive education, innovation, and research in the field.
Our course is delivered by the School of Medicine in partnership with East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT) and The Institute of Excellence in Robotic Surgery (TIERS).

You can choose to study with us over two years (full-time), and take Professional Experience modules in Year 2, with a Preparation for Professional Experience module in Year 1.
