Re-Shaping Landscapes

Dance film

Composite of three images of dancers performing for Re-Shape-Land-Scape in different locations

Re-Shaping Landscapes is an award-winning dance film that explores ecological transformation through movement, place, and embodied experience. Filmed across climate-affected landscapes, including Holme Beach, Norfolk, the work investigates how choreography can create new ways of sensing environmental change and our relationship to vulnerable ecosystems.

Awards and recognition

  • Best Dance Film – Kyoto Independent Film Festival (2026)
  • Best Dance Film – New York Film & Cinematography Awards (2026)
  • Nominated Best Director in Dance Music Film – Cannes Film Awards (2026)
  • Best Dance Short – San Francisco Arthouse Festival (2026)
  • Best Dance Short – Palm Beach Shorts Festival (2026)

Developed as part of the wider Re-Shaping Landscapes research project, the film brings together performers from the UK, Cyprus, Sweden and Hong Kong within a shared choreographic framework shaped by geographic coordinates and site-responsive movement practices. Through cinematic choreography, the film reimagines landscapes as active collaborators rather than passive backdrops.

The work contributes to growing conversations in dance, screendance, environmental humanities, and practice research by exploring movement as a form of ecological engagement.
