Enamul is Deputy Head of Essex's first undergraduate School of Medicine. In this role, he oversees quality management of academic teaching, student support, interprofessional learning and EDI. He has a strong interest in admissions and widening participation, and is involved in community engagement.

Background

Enamul graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry from Dundee University before completing his doctorate at the University of St Andrews. Following training in clinical immunology at NHS London, he moved into researcher roles focussed on immunoassay development at GSK and LGC.

Enamul progressed into higher education, first in clinical physiology run by Middlesex University, before moving to ARU as part of healthcare science degree team. He has led on modules involving anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, professionalism, and research methodology, and Postgraduate Major Projects. He also co-ordinated the Masters courses in orthopaedics and urology.

In 2018, Enamul joined the School of Medicine as the Biomedicine Theme Lead, and the following year took on leadership for Phase 1 of the programme. He was then promoted to Undergraduate Programme Lead and shortly after became the Deputy Head of the School.

Enamul has been admissions tutor for the programme and is leading on widening access to medicine for the School. He sits on external boards including Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) and University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT), and represents the school at the General Medical Council (GMC), Medical Schools Council (MSC) and Health Education England (HEE).
