Module level: 7
Module credits: 15 credits
The value of specialised transfer teams lies in the familiarity of the staff with the transport equipment, procedures and logistics of transfer. The role of critical care transfer staff is becoming an integral part of the emergency service clinical team, contributing to the resuscitation, stabilisation, and transfer of critically ill patients.
We’ll provide you with a theoretical framework for the acquisition of a range of clinical skills relevant to the transfer of critically ill/injured patient leading towards competence in managing critical care transfers. These skills will support you in the preparation and management of patients requiring level two and level three critical care transfers. The background and context in which these patients are assessed, monitored and packaged will form the core content of this module. The skills will be supported by the relevant theoretical concepts and knowledge.
Assessed via a Practical OSCE.
