Our part-time MCh Principles of Breast Oncoplasty is designed for practising breast surgeons who want to build specialist expertise while continuing to work. Studied entirely online over two years, the course enables you to combine postgraduate study with clinical practice, applying your learning directly to patients and services in your own workplace.
The course combines specialist clinical learning with leadership or research development.
You’ll study topics including:
- benign and malignant breast disease
- oncoplastic breast conservation
- mastectomy and breast reconstruction
- professional engagement and reflective practice
- Clinical Leadership and Management or Applied Clinical Research
- a supervised Major Project in Breast Oncoplasty.
Because you’ll remain in clinical practice throughout the course, you’ll be able to evaluate evidence, reflect on complex cases and undertake your major project within your own healthcare setting, ensuring your studies have immediate relevance to your patients, colleagues and organisation.

Teaching and modules
You’ll explore the management of benign and malignant breast disease before progressing to advanced oncoplastic breast conservation, mastectomy and breast reconstruction.
Throughout the course you’ll critically evaluate current evidence, clinical guidelines and complex case scenarios, strengthening your decision-making across the full patient pathway.
As part of an international online learning community, you’ll discuss challenging clinical cases with experienced peers and academics, gaining valuable perspectives from different healthcare settings while developing your own reflective practice.
In your second year you’ll choose between Clinical Leadership and Management or Applied Clinical Research before completing a supervised major project within your own organisation. Whether your focus is service improvement, leadership or clinical research, you’ll graduate with practical experience that can contribute to improvements in patient care.
You'll demonstrate your knowledge and clinical understanding through a variety of assessments, including reflective coursework, recorded presentations, portfolio work and an independent dissertation project.
