Writtle University College and ARU have merged. Writtle’s full range of college, degree, postgraduate and short courses will still be delivered on the Writtle campus. See our guide to finding Writtle information on this site.

ApEx Research Laboratory

The Applied Extracellular (ApEx) Vesicle Research Laboratory provides a professional service for isolating and quantifying the surface charge of extracellular vesicles, exosomes, and liposomes.

Working with a variety of clients, from hospitals to biotechnology companies, our experienced team can advise you throughout the process, helping you to achieve your desired outcomes.

Why work with us?
The Applied Extracellular (ApEx) Vesicle Research Laboratory offers a service for the isolation, quantification, and surface charge of nanoparticles; principally extracellular vesicles, exosomes, and liposomes. We can advise throughout the process from study design, collection, and epithelial translocation assays.

We are proactively seeking collaboratively projects to develop the range and application of our services. We are keen to explore collaboration and consultancy opportunities with clients.

Who we work with
We have previously worked with academic colleagues both internal and external to ARU. We are keen to further develop our links with both academic and commercial ventures to realise the potential of the ApEx Research Laboratory. This includes academic institutions (universities and colleges) in the UK, Europe and around the world.

We also work with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, as well as hospitals and clinical teams.

Laboratory services and facilities
In our laboratory in Cambridge, we use Izon Ltd kits and reagents for the analysis of nanoparticles. We also use the qNano-GOLD, which is a robust nanoparticle analyser that allows for the quantification and characterisation of surface charge of nanoparticles.

We are based in ARU's purpose-built Science Centre. Our bespoke laboratory offers solutions for the determination of cell vesicle responses to treatment, opportunities to determine vesicle miRNA, and nanoparticle isolation and analysis.
