Alistair has led an award-winning architectural practice in parallel with teaching at architectural schools since 1993. This interchange of practice and academic approaches to architecture is driven by his desire to create spaces and places to make life better.

Background

Alistair is the founder of Barr Gazetas who have won awards in sustainability, urbanism, and heritage, and is a Director at the Academy of Urbanism, leading their great streets awards. He is also a design review panel member for the Design Council and in the High Streets Task Force.

Alistair's teaching reflects these subjects and he enjoy the interplay between them. After 20 plus years of teaching at Greenwich University Alistair was delighted to join Anglia Ruskin University at the start of 2021 to teach Architectural design studies.
