Full title: PCOS TIME: Treating, Informing and Managing PCOS with Evidence – A Multidisciplinary Online Educational Course for Healthcare Professionals
Developed by: EVIE in partnership with Verity
Funded by: Waterloo Foundation (£38,560; Chief Investigator: Dr Bassel H. Al Wattar; 2023–2026)
Format: Virtual two-day programme; online delivery; CPD accredited
Target audience: Healthcare professionals working in primary and secondary care who see women with PMOS/PCOS, including GPs, nurses, gynaecologists, endocrinologists, dietitians and allied health professionals.

Course overview

PCOS TIME is a multidisciplinary online training programme developed by EVIE in partnership with Verity – the UK's leading PCOS charity – to address the significant and well-documented knowledge gaps that persist among clinicians in the diagnosis and management of polycystic ovary syndrome and its reconceptualisation as PMOS. Funded by the Waterloo Foundation, the course is designed to provide healthcare professionals with the most up-to-date, evidence-based guidance on PMOS/PCOS, covering its complex reproductive, metabolic and psychological dimensions.

The programme is delivered as a virtual two-day course and covers the evidence base for PMOS/PCOS diagnosis (including discussion of the evolving PMOS reconceptualisation), treatment options across the life course, long-term metabolic and cardiovascular risk management, fertility treatment, and patient-centred communication strategies. Teaching is grounded in the latest systematic review and clinical trial evidence – including work from the EVIE team – and incorporates the perspectives of women living with the condition, co-developed with Verity's patient network.

Patient perspectives are woven throughout the curriculum, co-developed with Verity's national PCOS patient community. The course represents a direct translation of EVIE's research into clinical education.

Developed by: EVIE in partnership with Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG)
Format: Online course with lectures, patient stories and interactive Q&A sessions; CPD accredited
Target audience: Gynaecologists, reproductive medicine specialists, trainees and other healthcare professionals with an interest in reproductive endocrinology.

Course overview

Developed in collaboration with the RCOG, the Female Reproductive Endocrinology online course provides comprehensive training in the diagnosis and management of reproductive endocrine disorders – one of the core clinical areas underpinning EVIE's research programme. The course covers female reproductive physiology and pathophysiology, the clinical assessment and management of menstrual, ovulatory and endocrine conditions, and the safe and evidence-based use of contraceptive and hormone replacement therapies.

Delivered online with lectures, patient stories and interactive Q&A sessions, the course takes a multidisciplinary, patient-centred approach. It is designed for gynaecologists, reproductive medicine specialists and trainees who wish to deepen their clinical knowledge and is taught with direct reference to current evidence – including evidence generated by EVIE and collaborating groups. The interactive format allows participants to discuss and clarify complex cases with leading experts in the field.

EVIE is involved in the development of a new MSc in Reproductive Medicine at ARU. This postgraduate taught programme will provide a rigorous academic pathway for clinicians and researchers wishing to develop specialist knowledge in reproductive medicine, evidence synthesis methods and women's health research. The programme will integrate clinical and methodological content, with direct contributions from the EVIE team. Further details will be announced in due course.
