Venkatesh Profile

ARU postgraduate student Venkatesh explains how studying MSc Supply Chain Management, and gaining experience with an industry placement, helped further his career aspirations.

Coming from an investment banking background, I wanted to pursue supply chain management as my next career step. Anglia Ruskin University was offering the same along with access to Bloomberg terminal, which was an added advantage for me.

The Supply Chain Management Masters degree at ARU gives an overview on how to deliver a product or service to customers efficiently. It also teaches one how to ensure quality when running a business for a product or service.

Practical curriculum and industry experience

I always wanted to start my technology firm and this course has taught me how to manage operations to make a business effective. The practical approach in our course subjects alongside my placement year had a significant impact on my career perspective, as it taught me to implement my learning from classroom sessions.

My experience with ARU was worthwhile as I was guided by the friendly staff regarding every aspect crucial for a student’s progress. The teaching and support staff gave a fruitful experience indeed, as the pragmatic approach with course subjects led to enhancements in regard to my analytical skill sets.

Benefits of a placement

During my placement year as a business consultant with various fintech and blockchain start-ups, I learned crucial aspects of operations, technology, marketing, staffing, management and strategies required to set up a firm from scratch. The most significant benefit was that this placement opened doors to opportunities as I outperformed my tasks and other business start-ups in the market noticed this, approached me to assist them as well. There were challenges as most tasks and activities I performed were very new to me when assigned by each start-up, but they believed in my potential to give them the best possible outcome and I made that true by giving my best.

Support from ARU

ARU has been continuously assisting and supporting me at every step to make my dream come true. ARU has sponsored my Tier 1 Graduate Entrepreneur Visa to start my blockchain firm WharfStreetStrategies as I always wanted to.

I am highly obliged to ARU for bestowing this opportunity onto me, as it paved an amazing pathway to link my studies with my placement.
