Alongside the academic grounding you’d expect from a law degree, including contract, tort, public law, property and equity, you’ll examine why the world is organised into competing states, and where international law, diplomacy and armed conflict fit into that picture.

You’ll study realism, liberalism and constructivism alongside negligence and trusts, and explore the UN, NATO, the WTO and the EU alongside the English legal system.

Graduate able to analyse both legal and geopolitical issues with the same rigour.

Careers

Graduate able to argue a case and read a geopolitical situation, a combination that's genuinely useful across legal practice, policy work, and corporate compliance.

This degree will suit you if you're aiming for legal practice, while also preparing you for careers in diplomacy, international organisations, policy, journalism or humanitarian work.

Teaching and modules

Study real-life scenarios throughout the course, culminating in a final-year Major Project where you take on a genuine international law challenge.

As part of your Major Project, you'll produce independent research you can put in front of employers as evidence of what you can do.

Being based at ARU London keeps you close to firms and organisations operating in and around the City. Along with guest sessions from practising lawyers and IR professionals, this keeps the course aligned with employers needs.
