Module code: MOD011629

Module level: 7

Module credits: 30 credits

Overview

More and more healthcare professionals, including nurses, paramedics, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and podiatrists, are choosing to start up their own businesses. With current changes in health and social care around the world, these opportunities are set to keep growing.

You’ll explore the wide range of possibilities open to you, from running private clinical services and complementary therapies to consultancy, coaching, case management, or even launching your own charity. Whether you’re looking for greater flexibility, a move away from clinical settings, or a pathway into retirement, now is the perfect time to consider starting your own businesses.

Together, we’ll work with you to bring your ideas to fruition. You’ll develop your enterprise skills in understanding of business, marketing, leadership, risk assessment, and complaint management, gaining the knowledge, skills, and confidence to take the next step in creating your own business. We’ll explore the practical steps to get your business started, including the use of artificial intelligence to build a website, develop a pitch, and provide you with tools to get you started as an entrepreneur.

Learning takes place through recorded online lectures, real-life case studies, and activities with time to reflect on your own business pathway. You’ll also benefit from access to an ARU specialist business mentor and support from the Anglia Ruskin Enterprise Academy (AREA), including premium access to Underpinned Business Tools for freelancers.

You'll be assessed through a written reflection and a 10-minute video presentation.
