This Level 2 course is ideal if you’re looking to work with horses and want to learn more about their care, handling and management.

As a student at Writtle College you’ll be based in our Equine Training and Development Centre. Part of our rural 150-hectare campus, it’s home to around 70 horses, a stable yard, and a range of equine facilities. You’ll work and train alongside our knowledgeable tutors, all of which have a wealth of experience within the industry.

Throughout the year, you’ll delve into horse grooming, trimming and plaiting, tack and clothing, feeding, and horse handling. There’s also an introduction to lunging and plenty of opportunities to ride (subject to meeting the criteria for the riding unit).

You’ll gain valuable experience with a 150-hour work placement in the equine industry. We’ll help you find a suitable placement and monitor your progress while you’re there.
