How we're using AI at ARU

ARU recognises the potential AI offers for enhancing learning, research and skill building. We also acknowledge some of the challenges it poses, and the concerns you may have about how it affects your course, studies and career prospects.

How does ARU support you to use AI in your studies?

We provide structured guidance, tips and videos to help you use AI effectively and ethically in your studies and assessments within our guidelines and regulations. We offer clear information on what you can and cannot do with AI, ensuring you understand appropriate and responsible use.

Will my work still have to be my own if AI tools are available?

Yes. While we recognise the potential of AI tools for enhancing learning, research and skill building, your work must always be your own, and you must be able to understand and communicate complex ideas clearly.

What resources do we offer to help you develop AI skills safely?

We provide step-by-step support through the student intranet, a website   that provides information and support as soon you start your course. Some of the pages we publish include:

Is it worth going to university if AI might automate jobs in the future?

Yes. While AI can support learning, you’ll still need to develop the ability to understand and communicate complex ideas clearly — a core requirement across professional careers.

University will equip you with critical thinking, judgement, creativity and ethical decision-making skills that AI cannot replace and employers value.  You’ll also join a strong, supportive community, make friends and develop networks for life.

We provide the teaching, facilities and lifelong career support to help you understand and use technology as it evolves.
