Sight loss impacts on every aspect of a person’s life. This project developed resources to help vision-related and mental health professionals, people with vision impairment, their families, and the general public understand more about the psychological impact of sight loss.

We originally created a physical art installation; this has been adapted into two videos in which eight blind and partially sighted individuals share their stories of living with sight loss alongside a portrait photograph taken by members of Sight Life’s photography club.
Their stories were collected by Dr Claire Nollett (Cardiff University) and Prof Keziah Latham (ARU). Artist Richard Bowers created the installation.
The videos are accompanied by written resources explaining more about depression, anxiety and sight loss. They are free to use for educational purposes: fill in our online form to access them.
