Background

Ash joined the GSI in September 2023, after working as part of the research integrity division of an academic publisher. Prior to this, he completed a Masters Degree in Climate Change, which took an interdisciplinary perspective to the field. His thesis focused on how decolonial perspectives are represented in the climate change curriculum in higher education in the UK.

His PhD research concerns device repair and involves working with The Restart Project. The research aims to explore what motivates people to attend community repair events, how unreliable access to technology can compound social and economic marginalisation, and to identify policies which meaningfully address the issue of digital exclusion.
