ARU offers chance to visit before Clearing rush
Clearing open day will allow people to find out more about uni ahead of results day

Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) is inviting people considering going to university in September to come to its campuses for a Clearing open day on Wednesday, 6 August from 2pm until 5pm.
The open day, taking place at ARU campuses in Chelmsford and Cambridge as well as ARU Peterborough, will give people an opportunity to speak to experts and current students, take a tour and find out more about student life ahead of results day on 14 August, traditionally the busiest day for Clearing applications.
Clearing, which runs from the start of July until October, is the final opportunity for people to apply to university for the Autumn 2025 term. It is increasingly popular for people making a late decision on whether to study, or who applied earlier in the year but have changed their mind on what course to take.
There are more than 230 courses available at ARU through Clearing, from Law to Psychology and from Business to Sport Science, as well as land-based courses at ARU Writtle. Courses attracting plenty of interest so far include Biomedical Science, Optometry, Nursing and Paramedic Science.
This year, ARU is also offering a fast track service to people who register in advance of Thursday, 7 August, offering a dedicated unique phone line to beat the queues, access to welcome ambassadors prior to Clearing in Cambridge or Chelmsford, and a digital pack full of info and tips on starting university.
On results day, expert staff will be on hand in Cambridge and Chelmsford to provide expert advice to applicants, with phone line opening hours extended to 8am-8pm on 14 August, 8.30am- 6pm Friday 15 August 10am-4pm Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 August and then from 9am- 5pm from Monday 18 August.
Last year, ARU advisors spoke to more than 2,500 clearing applicants on results day.
“Results day is always a busy time for universities, but Clearing has already begun. If you have university in mind, whether you are waiting for results on 14 August or not, ARU is offering a chance to find out more during its Clearing open day on 6 August.
“There’s also a chance to beat the queues on results day through our fast-track service, providing extra peace of mind during what can be a stressful time.
“We have experts on hand throughout Clearing to offer guidance and advice on what course might be best for you. It is not just for students getting their results – many people now make a late decision to come to university for a variety of reasons.”
Professor Roderick Watkins, Vice Chancellor of Anglia Ruskin University
