Entry requirements

For students coming from Brunei to ARU

For entry to a bachelor’s degree (year 1), we will consider the following qualifications:

  • A recognised foundation programme
  • International Baccalaureate Diploma 
  • International Advanced Levels (A Levels)
  • Passes in Brunei/Cambridge GCE O Levels and A Levels

For entry to a Master’s degree, we will consider the following qualifications:

• A recognised pre-Masters course

• Bachelors (Honors) Degree - at least a Second Class

For entry to a research degree, we will consider overseas qualifications equivalent to a UK Master’s degree. Please visit our postgraduate research pages for more information on the application requirements.

Our standard entry criteria for undergraduate courses is IELTS 6.0 or equivalent, with nothing lower than 5.5 in any of the four elements (listening, speaking, reading and writing).

Our standard entry criteria for postgraduate taught and postgraduate research courses is IELTS 6.5, with nothing lower than 5.5 in any of the four elements (listening, speaking, reading and writing).

If you don't meet our English language requirements, our Language Centre offers a range of courses which could help you achieve the level required for entry onto a degree course.

Our Language Centre also offers the English Language Proficiency Test (ELPT) in the UK and overseas. Check our events page for dates or contact our country managers for more information.

  • Diploma D2 with very good grades

  • Sarjana II S2 Magister degree

  • A recognised foundation programme

  • STPM with three Principal passes (two well-graded Principal passes may considered) in relevant subjects
  • Polytechnic or Post-secondary College Certificate in relevant subjects with Grade C/Credit
  • Matriculation Certificate (Matrikulasi) with a GPA of 2.5
  • UEC (Unified Examination Certificate) Senior Middle Level with an overall mark of 75% with B3 overall

For entry to a Master’s degree, we will consider the following qualifications:

  • A recognised pre-Masters course
  • Three or four year Bachelors (Second Class Division 2)

For entry to a bachelor’s degree (year 1), we will consider the following qualifications:

  • A recognised foundation programme
  • International Baccalaureate Diploma

  • 1 year in a recognised Thai tertiary-level 4-year Bachelors programme (1st year in degree) - CGPA 2.5 or above
  • Associate Degree (completed within a university-sector institution)
  • Diploma in Vocational Education/ Higher CertificateStudents with lower CGPA scores may be considered (at the Faculty's discretion) if applicants have graduated from a good university or they have done particularly well in the relevant modules

For entry to a Master’s degree, we will consider the following qualifications:

  • 4-year Bachelors or Professional Bachelors (in a discipline relevant to the subject area) with CGPA 2.3 - 2.5
