Entry requirements

Academic entry requirements

for students coming from Zimbabwe to ARU

For entry to a bachelor’s degree (year 1), we will consider the following qualifications:

  • A recognised foundation programme
  • International Baccalaureate Diploma
  • International Advanced Levels (A Levels)
  • ZIMSEC Advanced Level or GCE Advanced Level with grade C in two subjects
  • National Diploma

For entry to a master’s degree, we will consider the following qualifications:

  • A recognised pre-masters course
  • Bachelor Degree (Honours) with second class lower
  • A UK equivalent bachelors degree (minimum second class lower)

For entry to a research degree, we will consider overseas qualifications equivalent to a UK Master’s degree. Please visit our postgraduate research pages for more information on the application requirements.

The above is a guide only and not all qualifications are listed. There may be additional course requirements, such specific subjects or grades, a portfolio or an interview, for example. These requirements will be detailed on each individual course page.

If you don't hold one of the qualifications above, ARU College can help. ARU College provides foundation, first year and pre-Masters courses designed to prepare you for entry to your chosen degree.

English requirements

If English is not your first language you will need to be able to show you have the required level of English language. This is so we can ensure you'll be able to follow your course.

  • Our standard entry criteria for undergraduate courses is IELTS 6.0 or equivalent, with nothing lower than 5.5 in any of the four elements (listening, speaking, reading and writing).
  • Our standard entry criteria for postgraduate taught and postgraduate research courses is IELTS 6.5, with nothing lower than 5.5 in any of the four elements (listening, speaking, reading and writing).

If you don't meet our English language requirements, our Language Centre offers a range of courses which could help you achieve the level required for entry onto a degree course.

Our Language Centre also offers the English Language Proficiency Test (ELPT) in the UK and overseas. Check our events page for dates or contact our country managers for more information.
