Dr Manshi Mankiwala: Inclusivity in healthcare

Manshi studied a Masters in Public Health at ARU, and now leads initiatives to improve maternal and child health. Her focus is on inclusivity and gender equity in healthcare.

Here is Manshi's story.

Manshi Mankiwala

As a State Consultant with the National Health Mission (NHM), Department of Health & Family Welfare, Gujarat, India, Dr Manshi Mankiwala believes the knowledge, values, and global perspective she gained at ARU have shaped her career. They've enabled her to make a significant impact on public health and human development.

“The rigorous curriculum at ARU honed my critical analytical and problem-solving abilities, while the diverse academic environment fostered a deep appreciation for cross-cultural collaboration and inclusiveness.”

In her role with the NHM, Manshi has led multiple initiatives to improve maternal and child health, enhancing access to comprehensive health services.

Health services for all

Often navigating complex challenges, Manshi has spearheaded the implementation of digital tools to streamline health service delivery, ensuring timely access to care for marginalised populations. She has also been instrumental in designing interventions that integrate health, legislation and human rights to improve early childhood development outcomes.

Manshi's passion for public health stems from a deep commitment to improving lives and fostering equitable development.

It is this passion that drives her creative problem-solving approach, whether it involves developing culturally sensitive health education materials or designing campaigns to combat hesitancy in seeking health services.

Gender equity in healthcare

Integrity and inclusivity are at the core of Manshi's professional ethos. She continues to advocate for transparent decision-making and the inclusion of gender equity in health programmes. She wants to ensure that women and girls have access to essential services and opportunities.

Serving the community

Public health work in rapidly developing countries often involves navigating systemic challenges, resource constraints, and resistance to change. Despite these obstacles, Manshi has continued to demonstrate resilience in her role and dedication to the communities she serves.
