This flexible online event is designed for professionals working in HR, learning and development, or those with team management responsibilities. Pick 'n' mix from nine insightful sessions to gain a better understanding of how to navigate workforce planning and degree apprenticeships that will future-proof your talent recruitment and development strategy.

How does it work?

Choose as many sessions as you like from the agenda below. We’ll ask you which ones you plan to attend on the booking form and you’ll get the joining links with your email ticket. From there, you just need to join us on MS Teams at the right time.

The ‘Focus On’ sessions (2.10-4pm) delve into the details of ARU’s apprenticeship offer. Some sessions do overlap, so please select which sessions are most relevant to your organisation at the point of booking.

9-9.30am: Welcome

Join us for a 9.15am welcome from Dr Clare Fazackerley before she introduces Dr Paul Redmond, then stay on the line for his keynote.

9.30-10.30am: The changing world of work and developing multi-generational workforces with Dr Paul Redmond

Hear from Dr Paul Redmond, one of the UK’s leading experts, as he navigates us through generational change and the future of work. Join this keynote session to gain invaluable insights and considerations for the attraction, retention and development of Millennials and Gen Z.

10.45-11.30am: The fear of putting your foot in it: promoting DEI in the workplace with Katie Allen

Ever wanted to demystify the language of diversity, equality and inclusion and find out how to get over the fear of saying the wrong thing? In this talk, Katie Allen will share her insight so that you can inspire inclusion in your own unique way and start to move from cautious to confident!

11.45am-12.30pm: Developing future ready talent – apprenticeships at ARU with Dr Clare Fazackerley and Matthew Goode

ARU is one of the UK’s leading HE providers of Degree Apprenticeships and Times Higher Education University of the Year 2023. Join this session to explore the range of Higher and Degree Apprenticeships on offer to support your workforce development plans. Discover the latest initiatives simplifying funding for ‘non-levy’ paying businesses.

1.30-2pm: Mentoring apprentices with Marc Rothera

An introduction to apprenticeships for mentors: what does it involve, and best practices. Suitable for anyone who is currently mentoring an apprentice or will mentor an apprentice in the future.

2.10-2.40pm: Focus on Health and Social Care Apprenticeships

If you want to know more about degree apprenticeships in the health and social care sector, this is the session for you. Twenty-minute presentation followed by ten-minute Q&A.

2.50-3.20pm: Focus on Science, Manufacturing and Engineering Apprenticeships

Focus on our Laboratory Scientist, Environmental Practitioner, and Manufacturing and Engineering degree apprenticeships; Twenty-minute presentation followed by ten-minute Q&A.

2.50-3.20pm: Focus on Built Environment Apprenticeships

A closer look at our built environment apprenticeships, covering Chartered Surveyor, Quantity Surveyor, Construction Management, Chartered Town Planner and Civil Engineering.

3.30-4pm: Focus on Business and Management, and Supply Chain Apprenticeships

Focus on our leadership and management apprenticeships, covering Chartered Manager, Project Manager, Supply Chain Management, and Senior Leader.

3.30-4pm: Focus on Digital, Data and Technology Apprenticeships

A closer look at our degree apprenticeships: Data Scientist, Digital Marketer, and Digital and Technology Solutions Professional.
