No to Venezuelan Blood Gold

Venezuelan ARTivist Katherine Hasegawa's ‘Ecocide Money-Dress’, a garment made of hundreds of worthless Venezuelan bank notes, was inspired by nature and seeks to shed light on the current environmental disasters in the Venezuelan Amazon rainforest caused by the greed for more money and gold.

What is ‘No to Venezuelan Blood Gold’?

‘No to Venezuelan Blood Gold’ is an awareness campaign, started by Katherine Hasegawa in 2020 to call the audience to stand up against the abuses taking place in the Amazon rainforest.

It is also a way for audiences to learn more about the work of organisations dedicated to stopping illegal mining in Venezuela such as SOS Orinoco and the Embajadores del Orinoco.

The project is a demand to companies to stop trading ‘blood gold’ illegally extracted from the Orinoco Mining Arc, and comply with OECD regulations for mineral supply chains.

This event will be taking place in MAB221 at Anglia Ruskin University, Chelmsford campus.
