More than a place to study

The Creative Quarter is a £40 million investment in your future, transforming creative education at ARU for 2027/28. Bringing together artists, designers, filmmakers, performers, game developers, makers and creative technologists, the Creative Quarter creates a vibrant creative community at the heart of our Cambridge campus.

Rooted in the heritage of Cambridge School of Art, and shaped by the future of the Creative Industries, the Creative Quarter is more than a place to study. You become part of a community built around making, experimentation and innovation in a space designed for creative life.

Spaces that take you further

You’ll learn and collaborate in hi-spec spaces designed for how the creative industries work today, including:

  • 3D fabrication and making spaces – fully equipped for digital and traditional practice, alongside extensive printmaking and letterpress workshops.
  • Film studio and live performance venue – new spaces for creative production, complemented by professional post-production, animation and VFX facilities within a shared creative environment.
  • Gallery and exhibition spaces – professional spaces to showcase your work to public audiences, potential employers and industry partners.
  • Collaborative creative hub – bringing together artists, designers, filmmakers, musicians and games developers from across Cambridge School of Art.
  • Games development studios – new specialist facilities supported by a dedicated £2.5 million investment and opened in May 2026.

Your creativity needs the right space. Find out more about ARU’s new £40m Creative Quarter at an ARU Open Day.
