Police officer training

We currently work with seven police forces to train future police officers.

Our partner forces, all in the Eastern region, are:

  • Bedfordshire
  • Cambridgeshire
  • Essex
  • Hertfordshire
  • Kent
  • Norfolk
  • Suffolk

We're proud to be partnered with these forces to provide the police education programmes which sit within the Police Constable Entry Routes (PCER).

Designed by the College of Policing, these programmes aim to further professionalise policing as a career.

Depending on their existing qualifications, new police constables can enrol on either:

  • a three-year Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA), which combines a degree programme with on-the-job training resulting in a BSc (Hons) degree in Professional Policing
  • a two-year Degree Holder Entry Programme (DHEP), which is available for new recruits who already have a degree and will result in a Graduate Diploma in Professional Policing.

Both of these qualifications can be further built upon during officers' careers.

Opportunities in police education

Since going live in January 2021, ARU Direct has played a key role in supporting the growth of police education.

As our delivery team has grown, so has our support staff, with more roles being recruited to support our growing number of students.

Our team now includes Instructors, Administrators, Course Content support, Work Based Tutors, Independent End Point Assessors, and Support and Wellbeing staff.

If you’re interested, this is your chance to contribute to educating and inspiring future police officers – and get involved in industry-leading programmes.

We are an inclusive employer. We are committed to valuing and celebrating our diversity and promoting equity and inclusion and our aim is to provide a supportive environment in which to work.
