My name is Melissa and I came to ARU through Clearing.
I can honestly say that if it wasn’t for all the Clearing team’s help and guidance I wouldn’t be where I am today. I was lucky enough to be offered a place on the Pharmaceutical Science course and my future prospects are greater than they’ve ever been. The Clearing staff were so helpful and supported me every step of the way, from the first telephone call where they offered me a place, right up to my first official day at university.
I really didn’t think that I would ever have the chance to study towards a degree and the fact that ARU gave me the chance is something I will never forget, and always motivates me to work harder. I cannot thank ARU enough for giving me this opportunity.
The facilities that I use for this course are amazing. My course means I spend a lot of time in the ‘SuperLabs’ which are brand new state-of-the art labs in which I do all my practical experiments and lab reports under the supervision of my lecturers. I chose to study pharmaceutical science as my ambition is to work for Cancer Research or Alzheimer's UK as a research scientist and this course is perfectly suited for me to reach that goal.
Since studying at ARU, I have joined the University’s cheerleading squad, the Anglia Ruskin Sirens, and this will be my first year as president of the team. As corny as it sounds, joining a society like the Sirens has allowed me to make friends for life who have made my university experience one that I will always remember. I am so excited to see where my degree takes me.
