This apprenticeship is ideal if you’re currently involved in an engineering role or want to launch an exciting career in electro-mechanical engineering and don’t have a university level qualification.
You’ll use your passion for problem solving to support or lead in the research, development, design, and aftermarket support for new products. You’ll develop your mechanical and electrical engineering expertise to excel in complex engineering environments and open the door to a wide range of career opportunities.
This apprenticeship is built around the Government-approved Electro-mechanical Engineer Standard, ensuring the training matches what industry needs.
Apprentices develop strong electrical and mechanical skills they can apply straight away at work. They support product design, testing, analysis, reporting, and quality assurance, while helping projects stay on time and on budget. They also provide valuable technical guidance and support, giving employers a confident, skilled engineer who adds real impact from day one.
As an electro-mechanical apprentice, you’ll learn how to solve real-world problems using both mechanical and electrical engineering skills.
You’ll use your understanding of electrical and mechanical disciplines to support and oversee product development including design, testing, analysis, reporting, verification, safety assessment, quality assurance, project management and delivering to time and cost.
You’ll also give technical advice and support on new products. Throughout the course, you’ll work with complex systems and tools, from CAD and programming software to hydraulic and electrical equipment used in industries such as manufacturing, medical technology and advanced engineering.
Employers set out the person specifications for the role, but apprentices will need to meet our entry requirements to be accepted onto this course.
*All applicants must meet the eligibility criteria outlined by the DfE Apprenticeship Funding Rules applicable at the start of the course. If you have any questions about these entry requirements, please contact [email protected]
**We will also consider applicants with non-standard qualifications provided you have a significant amount of relevant experience, are well-supported by your employer, and demonstrate the ability to manage university-level study.
