The Data Analyst Apprenticeship equips apprentices with the technical skills, analytical thinking and professional behaviours needed to analyse data with confidence. Apprentices work across the full data lifecycle, from gathering requirements and preparing data to modelling, interpreting and presenting findings.

Businesses can apply this type of role across a wide range of settings from finance and HR to logistics, retail, media and the public sector, developing in-house capability to support informed strategic and operational decision-making.

Wherever organisations collect and use data to solve problems or drive strategy, there’s a place for skilled analysts.

Therefore, data analysts can find employment across various sectors. Sectors such as retail, finance, logistics, manufacturing, healthcare, pharmaceutical, digital and communications, business, marketing, HR, as well as public and government services.

Apprentices gain a strong foundation to their career, a CertHE and at least 16 months’ work experience. They also develop important transferable skills such as working in a team, research, oral presentations, and writing reports.

Programme content

This apprenticeship develops job-ready data analysts through applied learning in data science, programming, databases, statistics and enterprise analytics.

Apprentices apply these skills directly to workplace projects, strengthening data quality, insight and decision-making capability. For employers, it offers a practical and cost-effective way to build in-house data expertise, upskill existing staff or develop new talent aligned to real organisational needs.

This apprenticeship builds your skills across data science, programming, databases, statistics and analytics, preparing you for real data analysis roles.

You’ll apply what you learn to live workplace projects, gaining hands-on experience and confidence using industry tools and techniques. Alongside technical training, you’ll develop the professional and ethical behaviours needed to work effectively with data and progress your career in analytics.

Entry requirements

Employers set out the person specifications for the role, but apprentices will need to meet our entry requirements to be accepted onto this course.

  • A completed Skills Scan and Initial Assessment discussion.
  • A secondary education qualification equivalent to 96 UCAS points plus
    A Level Grade B (or equivalent) in at least one STEM subject (Maths desirable).
  • Level 2 qualifications in five subjects including English and Maths or equivalent qualifications and meet age-related English and Maths requirements as outlined by the DfE.*
  • Where students do not have English as a first language then a qualification equivalent to IELTS score of 6.0 or above will be required.

*All applicants must meet the eligibility criteria outlined by the DfE Apprenticeship Funding Rules applicable at the start of the course. If you have any questions about these entry requirements, please contact [email protected]

Anglia Ruskin University’s standard procedures for admission with credit will apply where candidates wish to be considered for APL (Accreditation of Prior Learning) and APEL (Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning).

Fees and funding

Degree apprenticeships are a smart investment. You can reinvest Levy funds to cover the cost of an apprenticeship or receive funding support from the Government.

If you operate in England and your annual payroll is over £3m, you pay a levy of 0.5% of your payroll into a levy account.

Apprenticeships are paid for by your employer. You won’t pay any tuition fees on this course.
