Information for employers
Retain and expand the expertise of your clinical staff with this Level 6 Enhanced Clinical Practitioner (Paediatric Audiology) Apprenticeship; a cost-effective way to serve the paediatric audiology community and provide the advanced training and skills required in this important part of the healthcare sector.
The Enhanced Clinical Practitioner (Paediatric Audiology) Apprenticeship has been specifically designed, alongside NHS England, to ensure that the curriculum balances theory with practical, real-time learning in the workplace. Enhanced Clinical Practitioners will develop the knowledge and skills to work at an enhanced level of clinical practice within paediatric audiology.
The apprenticeship is designed for qualified health and social care professionals who are working at an enhanced level of practice with specific knowledge and skills in a field of expertise, in this case Paediatric Audiology.
Their job role will encompass various responsibilities including managing their own CPD; caring for people with complex care needs and managing caseloads, sometimes providing interventions as part of a dedicated clinical pathway; providing complex clinical care in the context of continual change, challenging environments; working with patients and their families to manage their own health and wellbeing; work with a wider multi-disciplinary team including knowing when to delegate or refer to other members of the team.
You may wish to create a new role within your organisation to attract fresh talent or develop your existing staff.
Apprenticeships are a smart investment. You can reinvest Apprenticeship Levy funds to cover the cost of the apprenticeship or receive funding support from the government.
If you operate in England and your annual payroll is over £3 million, you pay a levy of 0.5% of your payroll into a levy account.
The cost of the Enhanced Clinical Practitioner (Paediatric Audiology) programme for levy paying employers is £7,000 per apprentice and this can be covered in full using the non-refundable funds in your levy account. If you exhaust the funds in your levy account, then the government will pay 95% of the outstanding fees and you will need to pay the remaining 5%.
If you are an SME, not required to pay the levy, you will pay only 5% of the cost of the apprenticeship programme while the government pays the remaining 95%.
For more about the Apprenticeship Levy, and to find out about any additional incentive payments for hiring a new apprentice from the government, please visit the key information section on our Degree apprenticeships for employers page.

The apprenticeship is delivered through a blend of online and on-campus workshops. Apprentices will attend our ARU Cambridge campus for two residential blocks of 8 – 10 days in total and join online workshops in the weeks they are not on campus. This blended learning approach features additional online resources, such as videos, self-assessment exercises, worked examples, tutorials and online discussions.
Around 20% of the apprentices’ learning will be classed as ‘off the job’, which means that they'll be learning during normal working hours either in their place of work or outside – but not part of their normal working duties.
As an employer your business sets out the person specifications for the role, but the apprentice will need to meet our entry requirements to be accepted onto the course. You can few the full entry requirements on our apprentice course page.
