Key facts

An apprenticeship is a job with training, combining practical experience with academic learning.

All apprenticeships have been assigned a minimum requirement of off-the-job-training (OTJT) hours to comply with the Funding Rules. We will advise you and your employer on how these OTJT hours are planned. This time will be dedicated to developing the knowledge and skills needed to meet the requirements of the apprenticeship and therefore are not part of your usual work duties.

The off-the-job learning will be delivered through face-to-face residentials, online lecturer-led learning sessions and activities, and practical learning experiences in your usual work setting.

The off-the-job learning for our Enhanced Clinical Practitioner (Paediatric Audiology) Apprenticeship is delivered through a blend of online and on-campus workshops. You’ll attend our ARU Cambridge campus, in two residential blocks of 8 – 10 days in total and join online workshops in the weeks you are not on campus.

Assessment

You will be assessed at the end of each module you undertake (on-programme assessments) which will contribute towards the final award of your qualification.

You will also undertake an End Point Assessment (EPA) to complete your apprenticeship.

The EPA for this apprenticeship is independently assessed and takes place when all on-programme assessments have been successfully passed.

Careers

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will be recognised as occupationally competent as an Enhanced Clinical Practitioner (Paediatric Audiology). You may also be able to ‘top up’ your qualification through the Higher Training Scheme for recognition through that programme.

Entry requirements

Either:

All applicants must hold minimum Level 2 English or equivalent qualification and meet age related English and Maths requirements as outlined by the DfE*

Applicants to this course will be expected to be employed within paediatric audiology, to be able to access apprenticeship funding.

Enhanced Clinical Practitioners must be registered with either one of the statutory healthcare regulators, Social Work England or with one of the following accredited voluntary registers: The Academy for Healthcare Science, Register of Clinical Technologists or Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists. They must undertake revalidation processes or audit of their continuing professional development where these apply.

Applicants who do not meet the published entry requirements will be considered on a case-by-case basis by the academic admissions tutor for the course. It is crucial that applicants present a CV and personal statement that enables the admissions tutor to understand why they are a suitable candidate, in terms of their experience of the subject, academic ability to cope with master’s level study, and their ongoing work being in a suitable professional context, to enable them to engage with the course.
