Information for employers
Strengthen and develop your existing talent or attract promising new recruits with our Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Practitioner Apprenticeship; a cost-effective way to grow and retain CR&S talent and expertise.
Designed with employers, our Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Higher Apprenticeship balances theory with practical, real-time learning in the workplace. Apprentices develop core skills, knowledge and occupational behaviors to influence sustainability initiatives and make a real impact within your organisation.
Ideal for employees whose role it is to help organisations act responsibly and sustainably to make a positive impact. They work with colleagues across different teams, helping people understand how their roles support wider social and environmental goals. They may also represent the organisation externally, building links with community partners, charities or local government.
Their work is varied. They might support sustainability projects, employee volunteering, responsible supply chains, carbon reduction, or diversity and inclusion initiatives. This can include gathering data, coordinating events, communicating progress and reporting on outcomes. The role often involves working with many stakeholders and adapting to changing priorities.
It’s a good fit for employees who are motivated by purpose and enjoy working with others. They’ll learn how to embed responsible practices into everyday business and support positive change across the organisation. Employers gain staff who can champion corporate values, strengthen reputation and help deliver measurable results.

Degree apprenticeships are a smart investment. You can reinvest Apprenticeship Levy funds to cover the cost of the apprenticeship or receive funding support from the government.
If you operate in England and your annual payroll is over £3 million, you pay a levy of 0.5% of your payroll into a levy account.
The cost of the Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Practitioner programme for levy paying employers is £14,000 and this can be covered in full using the non-refundable funds in your levy account. If you exhaust the funds in your levy account, then the government will pay 95% of the outstanding fees and you will need to pay the remaining 5%.
If you are an SME, not required to pay the levy, you will pay only 5% of the cost of the apprenticeship programme while the government pays the remaining 95%. The cost of the of the Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Practitioner programme for non-levy paying employers is just £700.
For more about the Apprenticeship Levy, and to find out about any additional incentive payments for hiring a new apprentice from the government, please visit the key information section on our Degree apprenticeships for employers page.

Apprenticeships combine on-the-job training, practical experience and academic study. This apprenticeship is delivered over two years; this includes the End-Point Assessment. Your apprentice will learn via a flexible online learning model. This combines online non-timetabled study, with live virtual sessions, and structured workplace learning.
All apprenticeships have been assigned a minimum requirement of off-the-job-training (OTJT) hours to comply with the Funding Rules. Your account manager will advise you on how these OTJT hours are planned. This means that your apprentice will be learning during normal working hours either in their place of work or outside – but not part of their normal working duties.
As an employer your business sets out the person specifications for the role, but the apprentice will need to meet our entry requirements to be accepted onto the course. You can view the full entry requirements on our apprentice course page.
