Find vacanciesWhen it comes to deciding which path to take for your future career, it's crucial you pick the option that suits you. Apprenticeships offer an exciting, hands-on way to start or progress your career whilst being in paid employment and gaining nationally recognised qualifications.
We are excited to be rolling out the new Apprenticeship Standards, which have been specifically designed by employers to meet the needs of industry and provide you with the skills and knowledge you will need to work in your chosen career.
Each course provides a blend of practical hands-on experience with the underpinning knowledge required. As you approach the end of your apprenticeship you'll complete an End-Point Assessment which proves you are at the required standard to achieve your apprenticeship.

An apprentice needs to be in paid employment, so while you can apply for the apprenticeship before you find an employer, you’ll need to be employed before you can start the course.
Many of our apprentices already work or volunteer for the companies who then decide to support them through their apprenticeship. We're always happy to provide your employers with the information they need about employing an apprentice and can offer advice, however small or large businesses may be.

Writtle College are specialists in delivering Intermediate and Advanced Apprenticeships in land-based and animal welfare sectors. Nestled in the beautiful Essex countryside, the campus benefits from fantastic facilities that apprentices will benefit from during college study days.
An apprenticeship combines employment, on-the-job training, and studying towards a recognised qualification.
Apprentices are employed within a company that supports them throughout their apprenticeship. They will earn a wage and get paid holiday allowance, like other employees. They will get off-the-job training time, usually 20% of their time, towards studying.
Each apprenticeship standard is different, but many assess apprentices as they progress through their apprenticeship programme, ensuring that they are picking up the skills required. At the end of an apprenticeship, the apprentice will demonstrate that they are competent in key knowledge, skills and behaviours set out by the apprenticeship standard.
