In your own words, tell us about your sporting achievement

Recently, I had the honour of representing England Over-60s in the Four Nations football Tournament held in Murcia, Spain. The competition took place a couple of weeks ago and brought together teams from Wales, Denmark, Northern Ireland, and England. It was an incredible experience both on and off the pitch, and I’m proud to say that we went on to win the tournament.

Being selected to play for England at this level is something I never take for granted. Standing on the pitch in national colours, playing alongside talented teammates, and testing ourselves against strong international opposition is always a privilege. The tournament in Murcia was particularly special – the atmosphere, the camaraderie across the teams, and the competitive spirit made it a memorable event.

For me, this achievement represents more than just results. It reflects the hard work that goes into staying active, training consistently, and pushing myself to keep improving. Representing my country at this stage in my sporting journey is something I’m incredibly proud of, and winning the tournament was the perfect way to cap off the experience.

What would you say to someone to inspire them to follow in your sporty footsteps?

It’s never too late to push yourself, try something new, or chase a dream you thought had passed you by. Age, experience, or setbacks don’t have to limit you – what matters most is the willingness to keep showing up, stay active, and enjoy the journey.

Sport has a way of surprising you. If you stay committed, keep working hard, and surround yourself with supportive people, opportunities will come – sometimes bigger than you ever expected. I’m proof that you can still achieve incredible things later in life, including representing your country.

So believe in your ability, be brave enough to step out of your comfort zone, and take that first step – whether it’s joining a team, going to training, or simply deciding to give something a go. You never know where it might take you, and the pride you feel when you achieve something you once thought impossible is worth every moment.
