Student travel discounts

Our campuses are well served by public transport and the discounts below will make your journey better for your finances as well as the environment.

By bus

Cambridge and Peterborough

Stagecoach: You can access Stagecoach student discounts in two ways. You'll need a valid student card (inc. TOTUM):

  1. Buy an Annual student bus pass online.
  2. Get a 33% discount with Stagecoach Youth Tickets (valid for anyone under the age of 19, or over the age of 19 with a valid student card).

Discounted youth tickets are available for single journeys, as day rider tickets, mega rider, flexi 5 and flexi 10 tickets.

Tiger under 25s £1 fare: £1 bus tickets are available for under 25s within Cambridgeshire with a free Tiger bus pass. The pass is valid across multiple bus providers.

Chelmsford

First Bus: Discounted weekly, monthly or pack of 10 single trip tickets available via the First Bus mTicket app with a valid ARU student email address.

Arriva: up to 25% savings on annual tickets paid by monthly direct debit.

By train

Abellio Greater Anglia: 10% discounts on flexi, monthly, or quarterly tickets and 15% discount on annual tickets on services from any Abellio Greater Anglia Station to Cambridge, Chelmsford or Peterborough. Buy tickets by calling 0345 600 7245 and selecting option 3.

Railcards: available for those aged 16 to 25 or 25+ in full time education, saving up to a third on off-peak journeys. See 16-25railcard.co.uk.

18+ Student Oyster photocard: full-time students living in London can save up to 30% on adult-rate Travelcards and Bus & Tram Pass season tickets.
