Prof Tanya Horeck: From screen time to digital safety

Prof Tanya Horeck is Director of the Centre for Media, Arts & Creative Technologies at ARU. She has spent over 20 years researching sexual and gender-based violence and the impact of social media on young people.

At the heart of Tanya's research is the question: How can we keep young people safe online?

Her latest project explores how increased screen time has changed the risks young people face – from body shaming and online harassment to image-based abuse.

The research highlights the need for better support for schools, teachers and parents, and is helping to shape national policy on digital safety and education.
