Prof Shahina Pardhan: From research to reduced health inequalities

Professor Shahina Pardhan leads the Vision and Eye Research Institute at ARU. Her work focuses on tackling diabetic retinopathy — one of the leading causes of blindness linked to uncontrolled diabetes.

Through culturally inclusive education programmes, community-based screening, and diagnostic hubs, his research has helped reduce the risk of blindness for more than 150,000 people across 15 countries.

By combining world-class research with real-world impact, this work continues to transform lives and reduce health inequalities in communities most at risk.
