Dr Ying Wang is an Associate Professor of Finance, specialising in Fintech, corporate finance and entrepreneurial finance, ESG and accounting research.

Ying provides leadership at the Faculty of Business and Law to achieve the vision and values of high-quality research and doctoral education provision. She also chairs the ISBE Special Interest Group - SMEs and Growth at the Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ISBE).

Ying's research spans Fintech, innovation, corporate finance, venture capital, financial economics, sustainable finance (ESG), SMEs, corporate governance, and accounting. Ying has rich experience with both quantitative and qualitative research methods and secured research grants from research councils and industry.

Passionate about bringing her professional and industry experience to education, Ying has helped a lot of her students achieve the best outcomes from their education journeys. In addition to her teaching experience at the doctoral research, postgraduate, and undergraduate levels, Ying also designed and delivered workshops to CEOs and professionals and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA).

Ying has published her research with world-leading journal publishers and is an active peer reviewer for international journals and conferences. She also regularly chairs and acts as discussant at major international and national conferences.

Areas of research supervision

Ying is a UKCGE Recognised Research Supervisor with extensive PhD/DBA experience, including thirteen completions. Ying currently supervises both PhD and DBA doctoral students as their first supervisor and has rich experience in examining doctoral theses in accounting, finance, and business.

Ying would like to supervise doctoral candidates in her research interest areas as indicated above using either quantitative (i.e., advanced econometric methods and surveys) or qualitative methods (i.e., interviews).
