Background

Sarinova graduated from Imperial College, London, where she was also awarded her Masters in Corrosion of Engineering Materials and Doctorate in Materials Science and Engineering.

In 2001, she joined the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Bristol (UOB) where she developed her research in solid mechanics (residual stresses), creep, and fatigue life prediction.

After spending eight years at UOB, Sarinova decided to gain industrial experience, joining industries and becoming involved in and leading national and international projects in areas such as risk-based management (RBM) and defect assessment, high temperature power plant life assessment, ageing power plant management, failure analysis, and cyclic capability study for HRSG, CCGT and co-generation plants.

In 2011, Sarinova returned to academia, joining the University of Portsmouth (UOP). She taught solid mechanics, advanced and modern materials, structural integrity, and product design analysis.

During her 11 years at UOP, she won several grants and consultancies and led multi-disciplinary projects, for instance, the Innovate UK "iWindCr: developing low power sensor network for corrosion detection and monitoring of offshore wind turbine structures" and "Dr-SUIT: Drone swarming for inspection of offshore wind turbines", and European Innovation Council (EIC)-Horizon 2020 "SatCom integrated UAV".

Upon joining ARU in November 2022, Sarinova secured the British Council Going Global Partnership (GGP) funding to develop a game-based learning module and app for STEM learning with Sampoerna University, Indonesia. She is now working with several industries and other universities' academics on project development and knowledge services.

Sarinova's other scholarly activities and academic citizenships include supervising PhDs, final year projects, and internships; delivering engineering training to professionals/engineers worldwide; and trans-national education (TNE), for example, with Indonesian institutions through the IISMAVO programme, and the British Council.
