Rose Bell

Rose has worked in health and social care for over 15 years, gaining experience across a diverse range of clinical settings and healthcare specialties. The journey began while studying for my Adult Nursing degree at Canterbury Christ Church University, spending ten years living, studying and developing my professional practice in East Kent.

Following qualification as a Registered Adult Nurse, Rose worked within hospital theatres as part of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology team, spending most of the time delivering babies via c-section. Later joining a private hospital, Rose expanded perioperative experience across multiple surgical specialties, including plastic surgery, general surgery, ENT, orthopaedics, urology and gynaecology.

Rose's passion for holistic patient care led me into primary care nursing, where she secured a role as a Practice Nurse in a small rural GP practice. Here, developing extensive treatment room skills and undertook further professional development in several specialist areas, including immunisations and vaccinations, cervical cytology, anticoagulation (INR) management, diabetes care and respiratory disease management.

After returning to her home county of Lincolnshire, Rose continued to build my expertise within general practice, with a particular focus on respiratory and diabetes care. Subsequently becoming a Specialist Neighbourhood Nurse within a local Primary Care Network, supporting patients across two rural GP practices. This role strengthened commitment to delivering person-centred care within community settings and working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.

Rose returned to general practice as a Long-Term Conditions Nurse, providing comprehensive management and review of a wide range of chronic conditions, including diabetes, asthma, COPD, hypertension, heart failure and chronic kidney disease. Diabetes care remains a particular area of interest, and during this time, she further developed my knowledge and skills through advanced training, including insulin initiation.

In February 2026, Rose joined ARU Peterborough as a Lecturer in Nursing. Since joining the university, she has enjoyed developing skills as an educator and academic, supporting the next generation of nurses as they begin their professional journeys. Currently undertaking a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education and looking forward to continuing my professional and academic development within the university community.

Although Rose's role at present does not include any research responsibilities, I am very interested in participating in research which I have done in my own time since starting at ARU-P. 

In March Rose contributed to the research for the University of Leicester, the University of Lincoln and the Integrated Care Boards in a HPV research focus group whereby utilising clinical knowledge on HPV to support them to understand the barriers to immunisation and the support needs for children, parents/guardians in underserved groups. 

Going forward, Rose would very much like to do research into areas of special interest which include the sociology of health and illness which links closely to my first degree.
