Nadeeshani is an experienced academic with national and international teaching, research and industry experience in quantity surveying. Currently, she teaches on quantity surveying-related modules and carries out research on construction cost management.

Background

After completing her BSc Quantity Surveying degree in 2006, Nadeeshani started her career as a lecturer by teaching on the BSc Quantity Surveying degree at the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. Since then, she's worked for Halcrow International Partnership in the UAE as a quantity surveyor, along with multidisciplinary and global teams to provide quantity surveying advice on a diverse range of construction projects.

In 2010, Nadeeshani started her PhD at Loughborough University and completed a thesis titled Evidence-based design for healthcare built-infrastructure in 2014. Also in 2014, Nadeeshani joined our Department as a lecturer in quantity surveying. She teaches BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying undergraduates and continues her research on construction cost management related topics.

Research interests

Nadeeshani's research interests cover a broad range of topics related to construction cost management, whole-life costing, construction economics, construction procurement and health economics.

Areas of research supervision

  • Construction cost management  – whole-life value of construction, cost reduction benefits of Building Information Modeling
  • Cost of sustainable construction – an evaluation of the viability and affordability of carbon emission targets
  • Construction contracts – NEC3 contracts support to achieve a collaborative working environment
