While working as a visiting researcher/student at five universities around the world, I have developed a strong international network. My portfolio of publications covers issues found e.g. in big data, medication management, emissions simulations, battery charging, pedagogy, investment decisions and last mile delivery optimisation.
Background
Maren's research vision is to improve the 'quality of life' by using diverse expertise in traffic, engineering, environmental science, manufacturing, business management, human factors and pedagogical concepts. During her PhD, and afterwards as a Research Associate (Project Title: Embedded Interoperable Intelligent Systems: True Digital Twins for Manufacturing and Logistics Supply Chain Modelling and Optimisation), she worked with industry partners on supply chains as well as other challenges in manufacturing. In this field, she addressed diverse issues ranging from human factors (e.g. physical and mental fatigue, supporting employees with navigating) to machine learning (e.g. maintenance).
Research interests
  • Big data (machine learning, simulations, analytics, digital models/shadows/twins)
  • Supply chains, last mile delivery
  • Smart cities
  • Shared mobility (bike sharing, car sharing)
  • Emission simulations
  • Traffic simulations
  • Battery management
  • Human factors (brain activity, eye-tracking, human performance)
  • Land use efficiency
  • Pedagogical techniques (virtual/remote labs, gamification, blended learning)
Qualifications
  • Transport Engineering (Diploma) - TU Dresden
  • PhD CDT in Embedded Intelligence, Loughborough University
  • Level 3 Certificate in Leadership and Management
  • Fellowship of Higher Education Academy
