Manbir is an optometrist, educator, and researcher working mainly in the fields of myopia, contact lenses, and health technologies.

Background

Manbir began teaching optometry in 2006 while undertaking her PhD in the field of myopia, following which she spent several years engaged in refractive error research. These experiences included working on the MiSight clinical trial; as a visiting postdoctoral scholar to UC Berkeley; and as an Erasmus+ visitor to The Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in Madrid.

Manbir has worked as a Lecturer and Reader in Optometry and Vision Science. In 2018, her teaching led to her being shortlisted as a finalist for the Association of Optometrists award for lecturing.

Manbir is also an experienced practitioner, with experience of working in both the primary and secondary care settings. In addition to research and involvement with teaching, Manbir continues to provide consultancy within the optical sector.
