Loren McCarthy’s main field of practice is within documentary photography focusing on British tourism, consumerism and deprivation in seaside towns. Loren has exhibited in the UK and internationally.

Background

Loren has taught on the BA (Hons) Photography degree course for ten years. She is Module Leader for Photographic Portfolio Practice (Level 5). Her teaching covers: developing a professional social media, web presence and marketing communication for artists and photographic practitioners.

She is the founder and editor of the BA (Hons) Photography social media pages, and also teaches creative self-publishing in books, zines or multimedia pieces.

Loren is a driven lecturer, passionate about education in photography, and has led several modules and collaborated widely with other courses at Cambridge School of Art. In addition, she has organised external student photography exhibitions and study trips.

She has been awarded a Student Union Made a Difference Award for creating an inclusive and supportive student community.
