Joahnne has expertise in Early Years Education and practice development, working with schools, early years settings, children and families aged 0-7 years. She has a particular interest in the Montessori Approach.
Originally qualified in healthcare and marketing, Joahnne's experience includes operational responsibilities for private hospitals and running an independent training company. She developed an interest in early years, training as a Montessori teacher in 2001 and running a successful Montessori nursery in Essex. She has been involved in the Montessori movement within the UK for over 20 years, supporting the wider community in developing practice.
Joahnne has also been part of the team delivering the safeguarding training for Essex local authority for over 15 years. As a first aid instructor and mental health first aid instructor, she has worked closely with a broad range of settings across Essex.
Joahnne has tutored and mentored students in early years education at ARU since 2017, and has worked with settings to develop the Mentor role that supports our students’ placements. Her experiences are diverse and contribute to interesting and inspiring training that empowers students to develop their professional practice.
Joahnne teaches on the BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies and BA (Hons) Montessori Early Childhood Studies, along with supervising undergraduates with their final year major projects. Joahnne provides support to students throughout their studies.
