Ellie began her teaching career in higher education alongside completing her own MSc Equine Science at Hartpury University. Her particular areas of interest include anatomy and physiology, reproduction and genetics, and equine behaviour and welfare. In 2021, Ellie gained her Fellowship with Advance HE.
Ellie joined the HE Equine team at ARU Writtle in 2022, having previously worked as a Junior Lecturer and Lecturer at another institution since 2017. She teaches across a wide range of topic areas, including both science and industry-based modules, and has taught at all levels, from Level 3 (Foundation Year) to Level 7 (MSc).
Ellie particularly enjoys encouraging students to discuss and debate contemporary issues facing the equine industry. Her own research interests include public perceptions of the use of cloning in equine breeding, and the influence of genetics on equine behavioural traits.
Ellie also has a keen interest in curriculum design and development. In 2023 she took on a two-year secondment as Project Academic Lead with the ARU Writtle Health and Wellbeing department, during which time she worked alongside colleagues in the NHS to develop short-course academic programmes for medical administration staff and General Practice Assistants.
