Chirag has been involved in clinical education since 2001, having started as a medical student and GP. He has been an Associate Lecturer at ARU since 2018 and has been the ARU Clinical Specialist Lead for Dermatology since 2021.

Background

Chirag graduated from the University of Glasgow Medical School in 1989. He completed his training as a General Medical Practitioner at the Dartford and Gravesham Vocational Training Scheme in 1994.

He has worked as a GP partner in Essex for 25 years and has worked in the private sector as a GP and health screening doctor for five years. In addition to these roles, he has been a North Essex LMC committee member for six years. He has now recently retired from his GP and LMC roles.

Chirag has been involved in GP appraisal since 2006 and has also been involved in training hospital appraisers. He is enthusiastic and active in his GP appraisal role.

His educational work has consisted of being involved with teaching on postgraduate medical training programmes ,teaching medical students (in the UK and in India) and GP trainees. He developed an interest in dermatology, which he developed further by achieving the diploma in dermatology at Cardiff University. His additional interests are in teaching communication skills and in the care of the elderly.
